An outsider’s reflection of Eastern identity through the Russian cityscape. Join Matyáš Viktora to explore the Russian contemporary culture through a camera lense.
Matyáš Viktora is a young photographer who openly states he got into photography by accident only. Heading to Saint Petersbourg for a 6 months long study exchange, he bought a camera with the idea it would help him to get closer to the locals.
Within his artistic approach, he explores the contemporary life of young Russians in the urban setting during his stay in Saint Petersbourg and Moscow. His photos capture the eternal dimension of the night, the club scene with all its hype, but at the same time seem to reveal something innate to the Russian culture. Faces, lights, buildings and shabby cars melt in a delightful insight into the Eastern identity.
