Spontaneous and unfiltered, the pictures of the Berlin-based photographer Shirin Siebert are honest portrayals of her very own vision of the world.
Giving us a glimpse of her life – picturing the youth in Berlin as well as moments from the visit of her family in Nigeria – Shirin’s photographs are always candid, spontaneous and as real as it gets. She draws in the subject of cultural identity she widely concerns herself with and conveys it with her personal take on it; straightforward but with a certain lightness to it. Capturing everything on her analogue camera, the photographer aims to shed people’s outer layers and uncover their true selves, her pictures always being very natural and unstaged.
