Preview: Baba Vanga Fall 2016

Baba Vanga is a Prague-based label aiming to dig out the obscure and experimental (not only) from the Central and Eastern European music scene. We’re bringing you five exclusive tracks from their fall roster.

The small label, named after a blind Bulgarian oracle, was founded in 2013, and is a side project of Easterndaze – a music blog presenting independent artists from Eastern Europe. Baba Vanga does not focus on a specific genre, and thus the music released under the name is an interesting mix of noise, glitch, and techno. All tapes are professionally recorded on high-quality cassettes, often accompanied by original artwork by the artists themselves.

Baba Vanga will team up with Berlin’s Trade for a joint concert night during the upcoming Easterndaze x Berlin event series, for which they will bring the Czech act Střed Světa and New Zealand/Berlin’s Tlaotlon. You can find more information about the festival, which we highly recommend, here.

The exclusive playlist you can find below comprises of 5 tracks that are soon to be released under Baba Vanga. The mix is kicked off by ‘Nebulae’ by Mexican-born, London-based artist Laura Luna, and continues with sneak peaks of the newest Sister / Body and Maciej Maciagowski albums, and is rounded off by two tracks by British Calum Gunn.
